Play Misty for Me, motion picture about a radio disc jockey who becomes involved with a mentally unbalanced fan. Released in 1971, this film was directed by Clint Eastwood, who also stars as Dave Garland, nighttime DJ for KRML. A mysterious fan often calls to request the song “Misty.” Garland meets the woman one night in a bar, and she turns out to be quite beautiful. They have an affair, but when Garland tries to break off the relationship it quickly becomes apparent that the woman is insane and capable of anything, including violence against himself and a former flame, whom Garland now realizes he loves. This theme reappeared in the box-office hit film Fatal Attraction (1987).
