Key Largo, motion picture about a World War II veteran who visits a Florida resort that is taken over by gangsters. Claire Trevor won an Academy Award for her performance as the tragic, alcoholic mistress of the gang’s leader in this film, which was released in 1948. The veteran Frank McCloud (played by Humphrey Bogart) tries to avoid getting involved with the gangsters but is forced to take action when an enormous tropical storm threatens the entire resort, including the woman he loves (Lauren Bacall). In the middle of the storm, gang leader Johnny Rocco (Edward G. Robinson) orders McCloud to take all the gangsters to Cuba on a yacht, and McCloud kills them all off during the journey.
