Goodbye, Columbus, motion picture about a love affair between a young Jewish librarian and a wealthy Jewish college student, based on a novel by Philip Roth and released in 1969. Ali MacGraw won a Golden Globe Award for her performance as the rich college student Brenda Patimkin in this film, which satirizes Jewish life in the Bronx, New York. Librarian Neil Klugman (played by Richard Benjamin) and Brenda Patimkin fall in love in spite of his reservations about her dependence on her family’s bourgeoisie lifestyle.
