Blowup, motion picture about a British photographer who stumbles upon a murder scene, inspired by a short story by Argentine writer Julio Cortázar and directed by Michelangelo Antonioni. Released in 1966, this British and Italian production won the International Grand Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. A woman (played by Vanessa Redgrave) accosts the photographer Thomas (David Hemmings) when he takes pictures of her with her lover in the park. When he develops the pictures, he discovers a dead body in the background. While Thomas unravels the mystery, the film examines and criticizes London youth culture during the 1960s.
