Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, motion picture about a middle-aged woman who starts a new life after her husband’s death, directed by Martin Scorsese and released in 1974. Ellen Burstyn earned an Academy Award for her performance as Alice Hyatt, a 35-year-old widow who dreams of becoming a singer. She sells her house and moves with her 11-year old son, Tommy (played by Alfred Lutter), to Tucson, Arizona, where she gets a job as a waitress in a diner. She starts to get some work as a singer and then falls in love with a divorced farmer (Kris Kristofferson). Diane Ladd plays Flo, the saucy waitress who becomes Alice’s friend, and Jodie Foster plays Tommy’s offbeat pal.
