Windows Live® Search Results Robert Wexler, born in 1961, Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives from Florida (1997- ). Wexler was born in Queens, New York, and grew up in Florida. He received a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Florida in Gainesville in 1982 and a law degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C., in 1985. Wexler began his political career in 1990 when he was elected to the Florida Senate. As a state senator he chaired the Finance and Tax Committee and the Criminal Justice Committee. In 1995 he was elected president of the state Senate. In 1996 he was elected to the U.S. House from Florida’s 19th Congressional District. He was reelected in subsequent elections. The 19th District is located in southeastern Florida and includes Boca Raton County, parts of Palm Beach County, and northern Broward County. The residents of the district are generally liberal and many are senior citizens.
