Georgia Southern University, public, coeducational institution in Statesboro, Georgia, 79 km (49 mi) northwest of Savannah. Founded in 1906, the school is part of the University System of Georgia. Georgia Southern University confers associate, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in a variety of fields.
