Weir Farm National Historic Site

Weir Farm National Historic Site, national historic site authorized in 1990. Located in Wilton, Connecticut, the site preserves the summer home of impressionist painter Julian Alden Weir, who purchased the farm in 1882. During the 20th century, the rural Connecticut setting drew artists such as Childe Hassam, Albert Pinkham Ryder, and John Twachtman to paint landscapes. The site includes Weir’s home, studio, barns, and other buildings, and the studio of Mahonri Young, an early 20th-century sculptor. Administered by the National Park Service. Area, 25 hectares (61 acres).
