Martin Luther King, Jr., National Historic Site, national historic site established in 1980. Located in Atlanta, Georgia, the site memorializes civil rights leader and Nobel Prize winner Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Historic sites include the house in which King was born; Ebenezer Baptist Church, where King preached; and King’s gravesite. The Martin Luther King, Jr., Center for Nonviolent Social Change is located in the park. King lived in Atlanta’s Sweet Auburn neighborhood, the center of Atlanta’s black community during the 20th century. Administered by the National Park Service. Area, 16 hectares (39 acres).
