Host Computer
Encyclopedia Article
Host Computer, a computer directly connected to the Internet that provides services to other computers on the network, such as e-mail connections or access to program and data files. Each host computer has a unique Internet address, or IP, and a unique domain name, which identify the computer to other computers and users on the Internet. See also Local Area Network.
