Manitoulin Islands, archipelago in central North America, in northern Lake Huron, straddling the border between the United States and Canada. Manitoulin and Cockburn in southeastern Ontario, Canada; and Drummond, in northeastern Michigan, United States, are the chief islands. Manitoulin, 130 km (80 mi) long and covering 2,766 sq km (1,068 sq mi), is the world's largest freshwater-lake island. The main industries of the islands are agriculture and tourism.
