Treaties of Aix-la-Chapelle, two pacts signed in the city of Aix-la-Chapelle (now Aachen), Germany. The first treaty (signed May 2, 1668) terminated the War of the Devolution (1667-68), the first war between France and Spain for the possession of the Spanish Netherlands. The treaty returned the district of Franche-Comté to Spain and gave to France 12 towns on the border of the Netherlands.

The second treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle (signed October 18, 1748) ended the War of the Austrian Succession (1740-48), including the American campaigns of that war, which were known as King George's War. It restored Louisbourg (in Canada) to France, gave Madras (now Chennai) (in India) to the British, accorded Silesia to Prussia, and confirmed the succession of Maria Theresa to the Austrian throne.
