Gulf of St. Lawrence, large arm of the Atlantic Ocean, in eastern Canada. It receives the St. Lawrence River and is connected with the Atlantic by the Strait of Belle Isle, Cabot Strait and the Strait of Canso. Islands in the gulf include Anticosti Island, Prince Edward Island (a Canadian province), and the Magdalen Islands. Its deep waters contain good fishing grounds.
