Saar

Saar (French Sarre), river of France and Germany, a tributary of the Mosel River. The Saar rises in the Vosges Mountains of northern France and flows generally north across the French department of Moselle, entering Germany near Sarreguemines. Within Germany the river flows northwest through the coalfields and agricultural land of the Saarland, and joins the Mosel River 8 km (5 mi) southwest of Trier in Rhineland-Palatinate. The Saar is 120 km (75 mi) long and is navigable between Sarreguemines and Völklingen.
