Map of East York

East York, former borough in southern Ontario, Canada, on the Don River. East York is a planned industrial and residential community. It was established in 1967 by the consolidation of East York township and the town of Leaside. With the cities of Etobicoke, North York, Scarborough, Toronto, and York, East York made up a metropolitan government federation called the Municipality of Metropolitan Toronto, which was formed in 1953. East York also had its own local government. In 1998 East York and the other municipalities were combined to create an enlarged city of Toronto.
