Map of Manila Bay

Manila Bay, large inlet of the South China Sea, northern Philippines, indenting Luzon Island. The bay, 60 km (40 mi) long, may be entered through a channel 18 km (11 mi) wide, in which Corregidor Island is situated. On the eastern shore of the bay is the city of Manila, on the west, Bataan Peninsula. Manila Bay is connected with Laguna de Bay by a short river on the southeast. One of the finest natural harbors in the world, Manila Bay was the scene of the destruction of the Spanish fleet in 1898 during the Spanish-American War.
