Alabama (river) river, Alabama, one of the state's principal rivers. It is formed by the junction of the Coosa and Tallapoosa rivers near Montgomery, central Alabama. It is 500 km (310 mi) long and is navigable for its entire length. The Alabama joins the Tombigbee River to form the Mobile River, which flows into Mobile Bay of the Gulf of Mexico.
