Strait of Georgia

Strait of Georgia, channel, northwestern Washington and southwestern British Columbia, 240 km (150 mi) long and up to 50 km (30 mi) wide. It separates part of Vancouver Island from the mainland. Linked to the Pacific Ocean by waterways to the southwest and northwest, it forms a section of the Inside Passage between Washington and Alaska. It has many islands and receives the Fraser River near the city of Vancouver.
