Gunnison (river), river, western Colorado, formed at Gunnison by the confluence of the Tomichi and Taylor rivers. It flows generally northwest for 241 km (150 mi), emptying into the Colorado River at Grand Junction. The Gunnison River falls a distance of 1974 m (6477 ft) through a series of deep canyons.
