Cimarron (river), river of the United States, a tributary of the Arkansas River, 970 km (600 mi) long. It rises in northeastern New Mexico, flows across the northwestern corner of Oklahoma and the southeastern corner of Colorado and then generally eastward through Kansas and Oklahoma, where it enters the Arkansas River near Tulsa. The Cimarron waters a semiarid agricultural region in which livestock are raised and important crops of corn and wheat are produced.
