Genesee

Genesee, river in northeastern United States, rising on the Allegheny Plateau in northern Pennsylvania, flowing north through western New York State to empty into Lake Ontario, near Rochester. It is 232 km (144 mi) long and is noted for its falls, especially the falls southwest of Rochester, which are 34 m (110 ft) high. The falls of the river at Rochester are used to generate hydroelectric power.
