Nasturtium, common name for several related climbing plants, native to South America, and widely grown in flower beds and garden borders. The common garden nasturtium has showy, long-spurred flowers usually orange or red in color. The round leaves and succulent stems may be used as salad greens.

Scientific classification: Nasturtiums belong to the family Tropaeolaceae. The common garden nasturtium is derived from the species Tropaeolum majus.
