Ouachita Mountains, mountain range, south central United States, a southern continuation of the Ozark Plateau, extending about 320 km (about 200 mi) east to west from central Arkansas to southeastern Oklahoma. The range is bounded by the Arkansas River on the north and the Red River on the south; its highest point is Rich Mountain 811 m (2,660 ft) in Oklahoma. A largely forested region, it contains Hot Springs National Park.
