Lake Okeechobee

Lake Okeechobee, lake in southern Florida, on the northern edge of the Everglades. The third largest freshwater lake wholly within the United States (after Lake Michigan and Alaska's Iliamna Lake), Okeechobee has an area of 1,720 sq km (663 sq mi). Okeechobee is relatively shallow, with a mean depth of only about 2 m (about 7 ft) and a maximum depth of less than 6 m (20 ft).
