NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund

The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund (LDF), founded in 1939, provides litigation services on behalf of minorities and awards scholarships to black students. The fund has been independent of the NAACP since 1956. It has headquarters in New York City and publishes Equal Justice, a quarterly newsletter.
