Salado (river, northern Argentina), also Río Salado del Norte, river in northern Argentina. The river, 1,800 km (1,100 mi) long, rises in the Andes Mountains near Salta and flows generally southeast into the Paraná River at Santa Fe. It is formed by the confluence of the Toro and Guachipas rivers and flows through mining and livestock-raising regions.
