Ussuri, river, Russia. It rises in the Sikhote-Alin’ range in southeastern Siberia and flows 800 km (500 mi) north to the Amur River. It forms part of the border between China and Russia; fighting between China and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) occurred here in 1969 and 1972. The Ussuri abounds in fish and is used to transport logs.
