Libra (astronomy) (Latin for “balance”), a southern constellation, represented by a pair of scales. Libra is a zodiacal constellation—that is, a constellation located along the ecliptic, the apparent annual path of the sun across the sky (see Zodiac). The brightest star in the constellation is a double star called Zubenegenubi or Kiffa Australis.
