Scheveningen

Scheveningen, district of The Hague in the western Netherlands, in Zuid-Holland (South Holland) Province. An important herring port, Scheveningen is a center for the canning of fish and the manufacture of fishing equipment, ice, and furniture. It has been a leading beach resort since 1818 and has extensive beaches and dunes, a marine radio station (1904), and a lighthouse. There is also a popular tourist attraction known as Madurodam, which features reproductions of the main landmarks of the Netherlands.
