The Trossachs, wooded valley, central Scotland. It extends for about 1.6 km (about 1 mi) between Lochs Katrine and Achray and is overlooked to the north by Ben A'an (564 m/1850 ft) and to the southwest by Ben Venue (726 m/2382 ft). The valley figures prominently in the poem Lady of the Lake (1810) and the novel Rob Roy (1818), both by Scottish writer Sir Walter Scott. It is a popular tourist destination. Together with nearby Loch Lomond, the area was established as Scotland’s first national park—Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park—in July 2002.
