Carnic Alps, range of the Eastern Alps, south central Europe. Forming a part of the border between Italy and Austria, they extend along the frontiers of the Austrian provinces of Tirol and Kärnten (Carinthia) and the Italian regions of Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Hohe Warte, the highest peak of the Carnic Alps, rises 2,809 m (9,217 ft) above sea level.
