Lebanon (city, Pennsylvania), city, seat of Lebanon County, southeastern Pennsylvania, in the fertile Lebanon Valley, in the colorful Pennsylvania Dutch country; incorporated 1868. It grew to become a manufacturing city and a commercial center for the surrounding agricultural area. A museum of local history is here. The community, laid out in the 1750s, was originally called Steitztown and later was renamed for the Lebanon of the Bible. Population 25,711 (1980); 24,800 (1990); 24,461 (2000); 24,180 (2006).
