Green River, river of Wyoming and Utah, rising in western Wyoming and flowing south and east through the northwestern corner of Colorado into Utah. There, after a southerly course, it unites with the Colorado River in the southeastern part of the state. One of the principal headstreams of the Colorado River, the Green River is 1,170 km (730 mi) long. In northeastern Utah and northwestern Colorado the river flows through the Dinosaur National Monument. At the monument the river is noted for the scenic beauty of its canyons.
