Windows Live® Search Results Anthony M. Kennedy, born in 1936, American jurist, associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. Born in Sacramento, California, he was educated at Stanford University and the Harvard Law School. After graduation Kennedy went into private law practice, first in San Francisco and then in Sacramento. For 22 years (1965-87) he also taught constitutional law at the McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific. In 1975 President Gerald Ford appointed him to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit. Kennedy, who is considered to be a conservative, was nominated to the Supreme Court by President Ronald Reagan in 1987 and confirmed by the Senate in February 1988.
