Pend Oreille, river, rising in Lake Pend Oreille, in northern Idaho. It flows 160 km (100 mi) west and north through Washington, to join the Columbia River in British Columbia, Canada. Lake Pend Oreille, in a scenic, forested region, is the largest lake in Idaho and one of the deepest in the United States; it is fed by the Clark Fork River.
