Georgia Institute of Technology, public, coeducational institution in Atlanta, Georgia. Founded in 1885 and commonly known as Georgia Tech, the institute is part of the University System of Georgia. It comprises five colleges: Architecture, Computing, Engineering, Sciences, and the Ivan Allen College of Management, Policy, and International Affairs. Georgia Tech offers curricula leading to degrees in 32 undergraduate programs, 34 master’s programs, and 24 doctoral programs, as well as preparatory programs for law, medical, and veterinary schools.

Research facilities at the institute include the CAE/CAD Laboratory; the Graphics, Visualization, and Usability Center; the Applied Research Center; and the Economic Forecasting Center.
