Tsung Dao Lee

Tsung Dao Lee, born in 1926, Chinese-born American nuclear physicist and Nobel laureate, noted for his work in quantum mechanics. He was born in Shanghai and educated at the Chekiang and National Southwest Associated universities in China and at the University of Chicago. He has held positions at the University of California, the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton, New Jersey, and Columbia University. With his associate Chen Ning Yang, he proved experimentally that the law of conservation of parity did not hold true for weak nuclear reactions. For this discovery the two men were awarded the 1957 Nobel Prize in physics.
