Neosho, river, rising in eastern Kansas. It flows southeast, entering northeastern Oklahoma. In Oklahoma flood control and hydroelectric power dams form Lake O' The Cherokees, Lake Hudson, and Fort Gibson Lake. The Neosho joins the Arkansas River near Fort Gibson. The Neosho River is 740 km (460 mi) long.
