Lake Lucerne

Lake Lucerne or Vierwaldstätter See, irregularly shaped lake in central Switzerland. It is also called the Lake of the Four Forest Cantons because it borders on Uri, Unterwalden, Schwyz, and Luzern cantons. The area of the lake is 114 sq km (44 sq mi). The Reuss River flows north through the lake between the cities of Flüelen and Lucerne. Noted for beautiful natural scenery, the lake is a popular tourist area.
