Jacaranda

Jacaranda, common and scientific name for about 50 species of shrubs and trees of the bignonia family, found in tropical America. Jacaranda leaves have numerous leaflets, and they somewhat resemble ferns. The bluish flowers grow in clusters. The attractive wood of jacaranda trees has a pleasant odor, and it is sometimes used in interior construction. The shrubs are often cultivated in greenhouses. See also Rosewood.
