Ahaggar Mountains, also Hoggar Mountains, plateau region, southern Algeria, in the center of the Sahara. It is an arid, rocky, upland region that rises to a maximum elevation in Mount Tahat (3,003 m/9,852 ft). On its southwestern edge is the oasis town and Saharan crossroads of Tamanrasset.
