Lake Onega (Russian Onezhskoye Ozero), northwestern Russia. After Lake Ladoga, which lies to the southwest, it is the largest lake in Europe, 75 km (47 mi) at its greatest breadth and 230 km (140 mi) in length; its maximum depth is about 110 m (about 360 ft). It is 9,610 sq km (3,710 sq mi) in area. The lake is fed by numerous rivers but its only outlet is the river Svir’, which flows into Lake Ladoga.
