Carnegie United Kingdom Trust, one in a series of trusts, or foundations, established by Andrew Carnegie, industrialist and philanthropist, who came to the United States in 1848 from his birthplace of Dunfermline, Scotland. Dunfermline became the site of this trust in 1913. This charitable trust’s income is used for the improvement of the well-being of the people of the United Kingdom. In the late 20th century its expenditures went to aid such things as music, drama, the visual arts, museum services, education, and community services.
