Tuz·la [ tzzlə ] city in northeastern Bosnia and Herzegovina. Before the Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian War Tuzla was a major road and rail junction and mining center, during the war it became a Bosnian government stronghold and a major United Nations-run refugee center. Population: 121,717 (1991).
