titch

titch [ tich ] (plural titch·es)

noun
Definition:

U.K. somebody very small: a very small person ( informal )

[Mid-20th century. < Little Tich, stage name of British comedian Harry Relph (1868-1928), who was very small]

Word History

Harry Relph got his nickname Little Tich, from his supposed resemblance to the so-called Tichborne claimant. This was the title given to Arthur Orton, who, in an English cause célèbre of the 1860s, returned from Australia claiming to be Roger Tichborne, the heir to an English baronetcy who had supposedly been lost at sea.
