ag·na·than [ ágnəthən ] (plural ag·na·thans)

Definition:
 
jawless animal resembling fish: a vertebrate animal found in water that has no jaw, e.g. a lamprey or hagfish. Modern examples have eel-shaped bodies and slimy scaleless skin, but many extinct agnathans were heavily armored with bony plates and scales. Subphylum Agnatha.
