In·chon [ ìn chón ] or In·ch'ŏn [ ìn chón ] city and major port at the mouth of the Han River in northwestern South Korea. In 1950, during the Korean War, it was the site of an amphibious landing by United Nations troops to liberate nearby Seoul. Population: 2,628,000 (2005 estimate).
