Regional History

Tow sack is an Interior Southern term that extends from Virginia in a southerly and westerly direction. Rare in the lower Southeast from the Carolinas to Lower Mississippi, the term may be strongest in the Lower Mississippi Valley, with considerable evidence of usage in Texas and beyond.
