| Bull Run [ bl rùn ] stream in northeastern Virginia, near the city of Manassas, southwest of Washington, D.C. It was the site of two important Confederate victories during the Civil War, on July 21, 1861, and August 29-30, 1862, also called the Battles of Manassas. |
