1. pear-shaped fruit: a small pear-shaped orange-yellow sweet but slightly tangy fruit, eaten raw or cooked

2. ornamental Oriental tree: an evergreen tree that produces loquats. Native to: China, Japan.  Latin name Eriobotrya japonica.
